Why did you choose the Wausau program?

  • I am from a small, rural town in Northern Wisconsin. Much like the small community in Wisconsin, this program provides a familiar, friendly, and supportive environment.

  • I enjoy being able to connect with patients & provide care to those in the communities that have supported me throughout my life.

Riley Scanlan, MD

Medical School: Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine - Kalamazoo, Ml

  • It is a small, community-based, close-knit program with dedicated faculty members and highly motivated residents.

Samuel Staehling, MD

Lindsay Stevenson, MD

  • I know & love the central Wisconsin area

  • Spent time with resident physicians of the program during my medical school & saw that it had a good learning atmosphere with a strong sense of community among the resident physicians.

  • I liked the central location in the state & felt very at home when talking with the faculty & residents.

  • This program also allows me to learn what I would like to use in my future practice (i.e. vasectomies, intra-articular injections, OMT, rural medicine, & psychiatry).

  • I wanted to stay in Wisconsin & work with a growing healthcare provider for residency.

  • Access to a wide range of specialties that foster my growth as a Family Medicine provider.

  • As a med student, I was thoroughly impressed with patient care.

  • The access to outdoor activities was also a huge draw to accommodate a proper work-life balance.

Hilary Steltenpohl, MD

  • As a graduate of Medical College of Wisconsin-Central Wisconsin, Wausau has been my home for the past several years. My husband and I own a home here & I intend to practice in the area upon completion of residency.
